Core banking modernization is commonly framed as a platform decision, but feasibility is often determined by integration discipline. Even when a bank selects a modern target platform, the path to value runs through coexistence: legacy cores, channels, payments, risk engines, data platforms, and third parties must operate as a coherent system while components are replaced. Vendors and integrators can accelerate implementation, but they also influence architecture durability, control evidence, and lock-in risk. Boards and executive committees can reduce roadmap risk by focusing on a small set of feasibility signals rather than attempting to assess architecture detail. Integration feasibility is high when the bank can demonstrate controlled change, defensible data integrity, and resilient operations during coexistence.
